Tasting Sweet Success – Sampling for Firefly Soft Drinks

drink sampling staffThe soft drinks market is a competitive place but consumer choices are changing. With ‘hidden’ sugar content a concern along with health concerns around soft and fizzy drinks, the consumer is looking beyond their long-time favoured drink and seeking out something new.

With maximum taste sensation, Firefly soft drinks have come to the market and proving to be a great success. But like other drink and confectionery manufacturers, their marketing needs to work even harder to win over a new legion of fans.

Marketing food and drink products must be a practical, high impact activity. It makes sense that Firefly turned to sampling as a means of getting their product noticed and with our track record in providing exceptional sampling staff, it was an obvious move for Firefly to work with Envisage Promotions.

Who are Firefly?

Firefly produces a range of revitalizing botanical drinks using still water, fruit juice and what they call ‘active botanicals’ to create the perfect blend of flavour and refreshment. They use natural ingredients, staying away from ‘anything nasty’. But they have something unique about them – they add something naughty with a dash of spirit in every drink!

The Sampling Brief

sampling staff agencyOur staff were to staff a sampling station at a café in Surrey Research Park, Guildford. Our staff were tasked with delivering a range of activities;

  • Sip sampling from the 330ml Firefly drinks range using sample cups provided in the café located on Surrey Research Park
  • Sampling requests for drinks sampling in both retail, typically Whole Foods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols, as well as other white-collar business and industry sites

As with all sampling station projects, our team were to provide detailed feedback to our client on what the public loved and wasn’t so keen on, as well as collecting general comments about the drinks, taste, packaging and so on.

The Sampling Drinks Outcome

Firefly was more than impressed with the sampling station project, taking away a whole heap of useful information from the general public. For any brand, feedback is valuable as it can confirm what they know is right about their product but also provides valuable insight into how to improve their product.

This is was a small-scale sampling project that delivered big results for the client and continuing product development. So much so, that the success of this project is acting as a springboard for sampling projects across the UK.

And what this means is that Firefly botanical soft drinks will successfully grab its share of the soft drinks market.
