Looking Forward: COVID-Compliant Hostesses and Promotional Staff for Events

Trade shows and events have been wholescale in 2020 although there are still some Christmas events planned. That said, most brands are taking a long view when it comes to hosting shows and events. With such uncertainty, we are training our staff to be COVID-compliant ready for promotions in 2021 and beyond.

It’s important for our staff, clients and the customers we engage with to work safely and that means our promotional staff and event hostesses understanding and implementing COVID-compliant practices at all times.

Hands – Face – Space

The autumn 2020 campaign by the UK Government to drive home the message of staying safe during the pandemic is one that we have based our COVID-compliant work practices on. And we’ve gone a step further too:

Risk assessment

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regularly updates its advice relating to health and safety and COVID, which we will follow. As this guidance is updated, so too will our risk assessments.

  • Hands

Washing our hands regularly in hot water with soap is key to reducing transmission of the virus. At events and trade shows, this will be very important:

  • Hand washing guidance – washing our hands properly means taking at least 20 seconds, using a high-quality soap and paying attention to the front and back of the hands, as well as in-between fingers. Our staff have been trained in the latest handwashing guidance. Staff will also maintain a hand wash log.
  • Hand sanitiser – when hygienic hand washing facilities are not accessible, using a hand sanitiser with a minimum 70% alcohol content is essential. We make sure our staff have their own personal supply and where possible, have access to no-touch dispensers.
  • Gloves – if necessary, our promotional staff and hostesses will wear gloves. Mindful of allergies and other issues, we have invested in powder-free, latex-free disposable gloves.

Face

Our promotional staff will also undergo regular health questionnaires too and at trade shows, fairs and events, our staff will go through a daily check-in process.

It may be necessary, depending on advice from Government and health bodies, for our staff to wear face masks when working. We’ll make sure they have the best face mask for them so that they are both comfortable and able to communicate effectively with clients and customers.

Space

Social distancing has also proven to be effective in reducing the spread of coronavirus:

  • Taped floor areas – we’ll put in place taped areas so that people will be safe when attending a stand.
  • Clear signs – we’ll also give attendees other visual information such as signs to keep them and our staff safe.
