Three New Albums That You Should Listen To!

The sun is finally starting to make an appearance in the UK this year and I’m sure there are some of you out there who have already cracked out a pair of shorts or a crop top. During the summertime bliss, what else can accompany you better than some fresh tunes and live music? There’s probably a few things you can think of but you have to admit, it’s pretty damn good combination. There’s a few great albums that I’m listening to at the moment and I feel that it’s only fair to grace your eardrums with some sensational sounds.

First up is Little Dragon’s fifth album release, Season High. The Swedish 4-piece have released something truly beautiful, the tracks Celebrate and Sweet are definitely worth a listen. It’s been 6 years since Ritual Union, the album that broke them onto the circuit and earnt them a well-deserved place in the Rolling Stone magazine’s top 50 albums of 2011, and lead vocalist Yukimi Nagano shows no sign of slowing down. Yukimi described this endeavour as a struggle, I feel that it has certainly paid off for the tiny reptiles. The next UK date that you can catch Little Dragon is the 27th October 2017 at London’s Roundhouse, however if you feel like broadening your horizons there are plenty of dates in the States.

Switching things up a bit and delving into the more urban side of music, Kendrick Lamar has smashed the scene with his latest release DAMN.. Unbelievably, Kendrick has managed to get all 14 tracks from the album into Billboard’s Hot 100 list at the same time, back here in the UK the album landed at a respectable 2nd in the UK Albums Chart within its debut week. When questioned about his album by Zane Lowe, Kendrick states that this album he wants “to live for the next 20 years”. You can find out when Kendrick’s next in your town by keeping an eye out on the tour page of his website.

The final album that I would like you to turn your ears to is a fantastic new record from Imelda May. 3 years on from her last album Tribal, she has struck gold again with Life Love Flesh Blood. Not only do we get 12 new Imelda tracks, we also get a new look Imelda! It seems that she has put behind her the stand out rockabilly style and adopted a more subtle, casual look. The album has had a great response from the media, recently BBC Radio 2 acclaimed Life Love Flesh Blood as their Album Of The Week. If you want to catch Imelda May performing live, she has put on lots of dates all over the UK so make sure to check if she’s playing near you!
