Envisage working with the British Beekeepers Association

The British Beekeepers Association is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting beekeepers across the UK. With a growing concern about the establishment of Asian hornets in the country, they recognise the urgent need to educate the public and bring awareness to the potential threat of our pollinators.

The initial detection of an Asian Hornet in the UK dates back to 2016. From 2016 to 2022, there have been 23 verified sightings of Asian Hornets in the country, encompassing 14 identified nests. By 2023, the number of Asian Hornet nests discovered surged to 72, distributed across 56 different locations.  As part of their mission to raise awareness, The British Beekeepers Association attended The National Outdoor Expo at the NEC Birmingham where hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts were in attendance.

Bee’ supported by Envisage

At Envisage Agency, we’ve been delivering costume performers throughout the UK since 2012. We recognise the significance of securing top-notch performers who are lively, passionate, and dedicated to going above and beyond to bring attention and comprehension to all projects, making them a huge success.

Implementation

The collaboration between Envisage Agency and the British Beekeepers Association meant the creation of a captivating mascot dressed as a giant life-sized Asian hornet to serve as the face of the campaign. The goal was to evoke interest and a need to know more engagement from the public whilst also evoking empathy, especially among families and the performer did just that, at one stage the life-sized hornet was rock climbing!

Un-BEE-lievable Success

The giant hornet proved to be a highly effective tool for raising awareness, its striking presence and lifelike representation along with the passion of the performer captured the attention of passersby, sparking curiosity and initiating conversations. Audiences of all ages responded positively to the mascot by expressing interest, not only by their want to know more but also the amount of donations our client received. So overall, the event was a huge success and made a big impact.
